Soju Divas: What does Kim Ah-joong, Lee Hyori and Koo Hye-sun Have in Common?

So you might be wondering: What does Kim Ah-joong, Lee Hyori and Koo Hye-sun have in common? Well all are being featured print ads and television commercials for Korea’s favorite native drink, Soju! Soju is an alcoholic drink that tastes similar to vodka and it consists with the combination of rice, potato, wheat, barley, sweet potato, and tapioca. Like vodka, soju is clear in color and the alcoholic content ranges from 20% to 40%! A bottle of soju is normally priced at ₩1,000 to ₩3,000 (US$1.00 = ₩940) depending on where you buy it. Buying soju is actually very cheap which is probably why its the drink of choice for family gatherings and when meeting up with friends.

Having a popular actress and/or singer to promote soju is nothing new but I can’t recall seeing so many stars promoting the drink at the same time. Koo Hye Sun first came out this year with a soju ad, followed by Kim Ah Joong and now Lee Hyori.
