Do you have it takes to be the next star in K-Pop groups like Girls’ Generation, f(x), SHINee, Super Junior or TVXQ? Well, Korean giant SM Entertainment are looking for a few good people who have what it takes to be Asia’s next rising star! The talent agency will be kicking off its global audition in the US and Canada and aspiring talents will be categorized into the following: singers, actors, models, dancers and songwriters.
There is no age limit and the only requirement is that your ethnicity have to be Asian. For those who wish to audition in the US (Los Angeles, New York) or Canada (Toronto, Vancouver), they can check out the dates on the following venues below:
Nov 15 (Sunday, 1-7 PM) – Wilshire Plaza Hotel, Los Angeles
Nov 22 (Sunday, 1-7 PM) – Toronto Korean Center, Toronto
Nov 22 (Sunday, 1-7 PM ) – Executive Plaza Hotel, Vancouver
Nov 27 (Friday, 3-8 PM) /28 (Saturday, 1-7 PM) – Korea Village, New York

For those whose never been to an SM audition before, many who have auditioned says that it is very similar to other talent shows (like American Idol) except participants will be judged on the field that they wish to participate in:
Aspiring Models
- You’ll be asked to make 3 poses so please pose for the camera!
Aspiring Actors
- You’ll be ask to show-off your acting skills (watching a lot of Hallyuwood Dramas will probably help)!
Aspiring Dancers
- Make sure you bring your own music CD with you or else they will play a random tune and you’ll be forced to dance to it (of course, this could turn out to be a positive if you can interpret the song and dance to it the right away — its very risky but its possible to get further attention from the judges).
- You may be asked to sing so be prepared if they ask you to sing a song.
Aspiring Song Writers / Composers / Lyricist
- This is probably the easiest audition of them all for you only have to hand them a demo CD of your original work and leave. That simple.
Aspiring Singers
- Ah yes, this is probably the reason why you came out and audition in the first place! You’ll be ask to sing any song so take every advantage and sing out LOUD since no mic will be provided! It will be good if you can impress the judges with your vocal range hitting all the right notes.
- Singing in Korean is not a requirement.
- You can bring an instrument to play if you wish.

Tips
- You can wear casual clothing but make sure you look sharp since this is probably the first and only time the judges are going to see you, so make a good first impression.
- Don’t wear heavy make-up.
- You can register by walking in but this may take longer so try registering in advance online.
- Practice makes perfect, so start practicing right now!
- There are normally 2 judges and a cameraman who will film you so unless your modeling, always focus on the judges.
- If you don’t succeed, don’t despair for their are other talent agencies looking for the next Asian star like JYPE audition and Avex audition, both of their auditions are running in October and November in the US and Canada also.
