Singer Alex Spent His Last 500 Won for Soju

Alex loves his soju. So much that he spent his entire savings on a leftover bottle!

Alex recently shared and confessed the days when he was living on a shoe-string budget. In the popular MBC program Come on Over (놀러와) which was aired last December 15th, the popular Hallyuwood singer said when he first came to Korea, he had to live with a friend since he didn’t have any money.

The singer even recalled a time when he desperately wanted to go out and drink soju. He called a friend and asked if they could go out and drink but upon realzing that he only had about KRW500 won (around 50 cents) in his pocket, he spoke to his friend again and called off the meeting since he didn’t have enough money to go and meet him, much less buy soju. During those tough and trying times, Alex confessed that he felt sorry for himself.

He eventually was able to get soju when he watched a TV program and saw laborers drinking leftover soju. Alex said he went to a nearby makeshift store to ask if they had any leftover soju, and asked if he could buy a bottle with his 500 won. Though it only contained one third of the full bottle, Alex said he was happy to be able to drink soju and he drank it while eating cucumber.

As heartbreaking as this news was, its good to see Alex able to overcome some immense odds and succeed in life. With Alex’s popularity soaring these days, we don’t think the star singer will have any problems getting soju anytime soon.
