Singer Ivy (real name Park Eun-hye, 27) has made a comeback after a two-year break. Ivy had to stay out of the public eye because of a scandal involving her former boyfriend, who threatened to disclose a private video showing them together. Ivy held a showcase of her third album "I Be" on October 27 at a club in southern Seoul. Organized as the pilot episode of Mnet's reality show "Ivy Back," the showcase was broadcast live. It showed Ivy cooking at home, singing the national anthem at the Korean Baseball Series and strolling outdoors with Park Kyung-rim. Ivy described herself as an "issue-maker" and "controversial figure." She was also shown complaining about her situation to Park Kyung-rim and crying. She said, "I stayed at home for two months because I was scared to go outside. I thought that people regarded me as weird. It was heartbreaking to think of how my father would feel when he saw all the malicious comments on the Internet. But I got used to wicked remarks."
Ivy also said that if she quit her singing career now, people would think that she had given up because of her sex scandal. She said, "When I get married, my children will also learn about this someday. My goal now is not to be the best but to be able to sing again. It would be silly to get hurt again." At the showcase, Ivy performed "Touch Me" from Psy and Yoo Keon-hyung, as well as "Goodbye Tears" and her hit song "Sonata Of Temptation." She looked as gorgeous as ever when performing "Touch Me," an enchanting electronic pop song with a simple melody. Ivy performed with male backup dancers and showed off many sexy moves. At a news conference after the concert Ivy said she was nervous to be performing after a long break and that she had greatly missed singing on stage. With regard to her third album, she said that she wanted to create a cyber-like image through her new album and show a more confident side of herself. "The songwriters said that I sounded more mature when singing ballads, probably because I've been through so much," said Ivy.
Ivy said, "During the two-year break, I weight-trained and ate chicken breasts because I had gained weight. I also practiced singing regularly. I have become what I am today thanks to my perseverance and commitment. What makes me stand apart from girl bands is my mature charm." Ivy's third album contains the songs "Crazy," "Good," "Because I Am A Woman" and "Why Me?" They were written by talented songwriters such as Psy, Park Keun-tae, Yoon Il-sang, Kim Do-hoon and Sinsadong Horangi. Psy, who also attended Ivy's showcase, said that he tried his best to create a song that represents Ivy as a person and focused on her sex appeal and dancing skills. "If Ivy presents the public with enormous energy and joy through her music, people will help her overcome her hardships," said Psy. Credit: KBS |
