
Chinese actress Li Bingbing has been given a special appreciation award by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) last Wednesday for her contribution in promoting ties between China and Korea.
Li has been active in Korea the past few months having released a photo album with pictures taken in Seoul last year. The 33 year old star was even the first Chinese whose face graced the cover of Korea's CeCi magazine in its January 2009 Chinese edition.
The cultural ambassador arrived from China last Wednesday and visited Seoul and Busan. The KTO said that Li will be engaged in further projects to promote Korean culture in China.
Li is considered among the top three Chinese actresses along with Zhou Xun and Zhang Ziyi.
Li was born in Harbin in Heilongjiang province, China. She has gone on to perform in a variety of film and television roles. Her film debut was in Zhang Yuan's 1999 film Seventeen Years. In 2005, Bingbing co-starred in the romantic comedy Waiting Alone, a critical hit which received 3 Chinese academy award nominations including 'Best Picture' and 'Best Actress'. August 26th 2007, Li was awarded the 'Best Actress' Huabiao Award, for her role in the movie The Knot. She performed alongside Jet Li and Jackie Chan in The Forbidden Kingdom, which was released in April 2008.
She also participated as one of the torchbearers during the Olympic Torch relay in Shanghai last May.
