
According to Yonhap News, Bae Yong-joon, one of South Korea's most popular actor who is also famous in Japan and other Asian countries, was discharged from a hospital today at around 5 PM after undergoing five days of treatment for septicemia.
According to BOF, the Hallyu stars management company, Bae's illness was caused by extreme stress and fatigue due to his work on his yearly photo biographical project about the beauty of Korea. The actor lost a lot of weight and was admitted to a Seoul hospital after his blood sugar and pressure fell abnormally low. After a series of test, it was revealed that Bae was suffering from septicemia, otherwise known as sepsis, which is a dangerous form of blood poisoning.
Bae is currently resting and will resume all activities after fully recovering from his illness. He is best known for his roles in numerous television dramas notably Winter Sonata. He is also known as the abbreviated BYJ to many of his fans, or as Yon-sama (ヨン様), with the "sama" being an honorific suffix in Japanese.
